Burgers n' Hiking Boots...

I had a draft I was working on that didn't get the pictures copied....the clock was ticking......the weekend was quickly approaching.....so, I'll catch you up on what I've been doing.

Friday - another piano lesson.....playing "Take Me Out To The Ballpark", not exactly the Beatles song I have in mind but first I need to learn to read the music...it's a slow process but I'm light years ahead from where I started in January.

Saturday, a trip to Trader Joes to buy some weekend hiking food (they have great stuff there, ever try the dried seaweed?)
So far it's 50 - 50 on those that like it, I didn't give it a try, I headed for the salted dried green beans and gave those the taste test. We hit the road with burgers to tide us over until dinner that night - have you ever eaten an In n Out Burger?????
I only eat burgers here.....when you've tasted the best every other burger is a disappointment. If you have a chance and see an "In n Out" joint while driving, make a sharp turn and head to the long line of cars...soooooo good. Oh ya, be sure to order them "animal style"...it's not on the menu but most folks know about the "secret" menu.

We hiked in cool weather which was perfect.....miles down the road at home it was raining cats and dogs.

I'm knitting......tonight I hope to finish the last piece and I'll be blocking and posting before the end of the week.
I'm also going to share my favorite dishcloth pattern.....why my favorite? Well, after knitting dozens and dozens and dozens of different patterns and giving them away as quickly as they come off the needles this pattern holds up the best to all the wash and wear and still holds it's original shape.

Well, it's a day late but what do they say, "better late than never?"

Here's the Muffin Monday to be enjoyed on Wednesday.......maybe next time I'll make Muffin Monday on Saturday??

Cherry Lemon

1 cup dried cherries         1 egg
2 cups flour                      1 cup buttermilk
2 tsp. baking powder      5 tablespoons melted butter
1 tsp. baking soda           juice from one lemon
1/2 tsp. salt                       zest from one lemon
5 tablespoons sugar

Heat oven to 375.....In food processor, chop the dried cherries (sprinkled with 2 tbsp. flour)
In a large bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and sugar
In another bowl, lightly beat the egg. Add the buttermilk, melted butter, lemon juice and zest.
Add the chopped cherries.
Stir in the buttermilk mixture into the flour mixture until the dry ingredients are moistened.
Pour into greased muffin tin, bake 20 minutes...makes one dozen

This was the "Super Moon" I had been hearing them talk about on the news during the week.....here's the moon taken from the back patio of my brother's desert home (and the Dutch girl's) - check out his blog "Spare Parts n Pics" on the side of Lap Dog blog,
I'll post the pictures of the muffins in the morning with my breakfast.....I need to get knitting so I can begin blocking before the next rain due in 48 hrs.and it takes days to dry....see you tomorrow.

Blech! Dutch girls won't eat dried seaweed. Tastes like hay with dried fish. Yuck! Like the moon pic.
