Lil' Lemon Here - Lil' Lemon There

Finally a Flavor of the Month worth eating.....

If you have a chance before the end of the month I recommend a stop into your local Baskin Robbin's Ice Cream Parlor.
Do they still call them parlors???
Anyway, it's a Lemony Yogurt with chunks of broken yellow Oreo cookie mixed throughout.....really good!!!
Pieces of the vanilla frosting from inside the cookie....broken pieces of yellow Oreo cookie.....yum....really, I'm not kidding.
We took a survey and decided the only thing missing was a thick piece of poundcake to scoop a mountain of this lemony deliciousness over.
Every Single Bite Tasted Wonderful.

Spare Parts n Pics opted
for Mint Chip to add color for your viewing pleasure
silly boy, he missed out on the tasting pleasure
sure hope he takes "The Dutch Girl" and Daughter
and gets a scoop before the end of the month
One of the regular monthly tasters commented after we were finished and walking out the door that it was really good ice cream...I told her it was frozen yogurt she had just enjoyed and she was surprised because she thought she didn't like frozen yogurt - it was the consistancy of ice cream and the only way I knew it was yogurt was because of the poster on the wall as you're walking out the door.
She liked it so much she went back the next day with another friend for a repeat and I'd expect she'll be there a couple more times before the end of the month.

Let's move along and talk about more lemon...

Here's the Lemony Angel Pie recipe -

Mix:
4 Egg Whites - Beat To Froth
Add 1/4 tsp. cream of tarter
Pour into greased  9" pie pan
Bake at 300 degrees 1 1/4 Hr.
TURN OVEN OFF AND LEAVE INSIDE FOR 10 MINS.
Cool for 2 Hrs.  The shell will rise and then fall

Filling:

Beat:
4 Egg Yokes
Add 1/2 cup sugar
 3 tsp. grated lemon rind
6 Tbsp. lemon juice

Cook until thick - COOL
Beat To Peaks
Add 1 cup sugar
BEAT WELL

Topping:

1/2 pint whipping cream
Beat until stiff and sweetened to taste

Now The Fun Part:

Spread 1/2 whipped cream over the pie shell......

Next, spread all the filling ......

Finish with spreading the remaining whipped cream topping over the filling.....

Next, call your girlfriends over for a chat and eat lemon pie, or, call your husband from the next room and say "oh honey, I made something that looks really good and you'll be SO pleased I'm YOUR wife", or, just take the whole pie to the couch and turn on a great movie and eat every last bite yourself (I'd be tempted to go with this choice).
I was told it holds up fine in the frig so you don't have to eat it all in one day....enjoy, I'm off to review the suitcase and see if anything's missing.
If you do get a chance to make this pie let me know how it turns out - I'm quickly running out of time before I leave so I may have to put this on the "do when I get back" list.

I have the back screen door open right now - it's raining outside and it's one of those "simple pleasures" I love the most, listening to rain.
Oh,.... I think it's ending - I'm glad I was sitting here to hear it, the birds are back chirping, I think they enjoyed it too.
That reminds me to go water my tomato plants.

I have to finish up details on the trip and make sure I have my camera ready.....did I tell you I'm taking you all along with me on this trip??? Well, get ready - you're all going with me.
First stop, Los Angeles International Airport - heading East to London......hope we'll all get to see something fun because this is a short stop over. Kate & Will....Mary Poppins.....London Policeman on his horse.......anything will be wonderful.
Bangers and Mash here I come, really I'd rather have Fish n Chips wrapped in newpaper with vinegar but I don't think they do that anymore.
Get your bag packed - I hate when people leave on a trip and I'm left behind.

Part of this fun is you don't know exactly where you'll be going yet.

P.S. It's raining again....love that sound:)
