Tom Tom....???
We drove to a coastal town and toured some museums and of course....ate...this is where I had the perfect food. Everyone enjoyed their meals (we ate before 6:00 p.m. so there were no pizzas available to order, that was fine, after my last ordering of a pizza I was very content to go a different route). Man In Black Penne alla Norma which was the best I've tasted since I've been here. It's been ordered at a different restaurant but this place prepared it the best. Also, you could travel the entire county and order that same exact meal and each location would probably serve it tasting differently. I loved my selection. It's not something exciting to some, actually, many would probably not even bother ordering it and move on to a larger heavier dish to enjoy, but for me.....this was so good. This town was quieter than others we've been to, the streets a bit wider, the traffic a bit lighter.....the alleys, thankfully, we didn't need to use them. I haven't told you the experience of "the alley" yet. We were wrapping up our day but wanted the last location before heading home to be a winery. Using the navigational devices are a huge help here so we plugged in a couple of wineries near by and headed out.....the first, was closed. Actually, I think we came to the decision that it wasn't one that served and sold wines - more likely a shipping location. So, on we went to another close by. We called, "yes, we're open" so plugged in the location and started the "turn right 50 feet ahead, than veer hard left, then ahead 7 yards, turn hard left....and so on.....The streets are narrow bloggers.....really narrow and getting even more so as we listened to the talking box....Son was getting more uptight and we started to received looks from local residents....puzzled looks like "are you seriously thinking you're going to fit that car down our alley????" Well, we ran out of road....narrow walled alley, and a parked car directly in our path because this guy also realized "hey bud, you're not getting out of this maze THIS way"....so reverse it was......a long, very careful slow reverse with everyone in the car holding their breath depending on the skill of Son to manuever backwards.....He did a perfect job....perfect. After which he said - "forget the winery, we're going home now". We were all totally okay with that because several bottles were waiting at home and after the "alley" experience we all wanted out of that town. Something else I've been meaning to tell you.....when people drive here and a firetruck or any car with sirens blaring......they all continue to drive the same exact way. Nobody pulls over to allow the wailing car......just continue to talk on their cells phones....texting.....hands waving into the air to add exclamation to their conversations with the passengers....no apparent notice taken that something is in a hurry trying to get past them in their rearview mirror.....

They say really good travel experiences can change your whole perspective and broaden your outlook. Pretty sure this trip will qualify as a really good travel experience! You may never think of alleys in quite the same way again!!
