Busy....knitting...painting...knitting....baking.....knitting
That was my weekend....along with a nice dinner out with friends on Saturday night and a bit of rain on Sunday morning....
Remember I mentioned a book that I was going to buy????
That would become available on November 8th?
Well, I previewed the book on Amazon and decided at this time I'm only interested in one pattern and it's currently available for $3.50...or maybe $3.00 -
I don't remember, but it's available now through Ravelry if you're interested.
Anyway, the book that this pattern can be found in is "The Best Of Knitscene"
and the pattern I wanted is the Phairo Scarf by Katie Himmelberg.
The pattern is available in color....I'm out of ink...I'll reprint it later...when I remember to buy more ink.
Now to see this scarf in the book....it doesn't really interest me....but I saw this pattern knit and on display while visiting a shop in the Chicago area and the scarf was beautiful because of the multi colors of fiber.
Remember the five skeins of Tempo yarn that I bought while traveling? Well, the yarn shop owner had a scarf on display knit with different yarns....it was stunning...so much better than the photo of the scarf in the book.
Had I seen this scarf pattern based only on the photo in the book I would probably have continued on flipping to the next page.....but after seeing the sample in the store...
I bought five skeins and I'm beginning on the third tonight...
Basically, you knit for 20 inches and then start casting off and dropping stitches...easy knitting.
I'm a continental knitter...it sounds impressive...being "continental"....
Truth is...it's faster and less movement on the hands and wrists...
over time...
I hope to avoid surgery from this hobby that has taken over every room in my house.
I'm going to put this aside after tonight but I'm having so much fun seeing all the colors I don't want to put it down...there's a Santa hat and alpaca beanie that's been moved to the top of the knitting list so I can get it in the mail to Team Sicily to wear during the cooler days ahead.
The baking??? banana bread, Baby Ruth cookies, roast chicken for tortilla soup later in the week.
The painting? it's the kitchen,,,,yet another color since the last one was too dark for the small room.
We've hit success third time around with the color selection....I'm anious to get the Christmas decorations displayed (I know, Thanksgiving isn't even here yet) but I can't bring out the sleigh bells until this painting is completed.
The time change is a bummer...home after dark now...I don't know about you but when the sun goes down
so do my eye lids - I'm a morning person.....I like my jammies on and knitting when the sun goes down.
Which brings me to what I do when the time changes....candles...I light candles and fill the house with the wonderful smells.
We'll talk about that tomorrow when I've lit one and share a photo of the overpriced beauty I just bought.
Apples & cinnamon sticks, large, pretty, burns for 100 hours......
I was sold when I saw the pretty apples.
See you tomorrow friends.......I'll take more pictures to post in the morning...
I want to show you the yarn I bought for my "rememberance blanket".

Your tempo yarn has a luscious glow.
Sometimes I wonder why books don't style the knitting better for photos. Many times I'm drawn to a design after seeing another knitter's version which looks way better than how it did in the book.
I can't wait to see your finished scarf! I love the yarn you are using!
The colors of your yarn are delicious, like a pile of maple leaves...I just want to jump in!
I love candles too! Do you ever get Slatkin? I get the 3 wick ones, they are spendy but I wait until they go on sale and get 2 for the price of one. Here's a link if you don't know where to get them in your area. xo

Now that it's getting cooler here, I just love wearing scarves. As a jean and tshirt gal, I always feel that if I stick on a scarf, it dresses me up a bit!! Have a great week!
Hope you don't need surgery from your hobby! YIKES! It makes my hands hurt just thinking about it.
