Stove Time...

The report back from the Red Carpet Walker...the evening was spent with Michael Douglas, Sandra Bullock is nice, everyone looked beautiful....and Meryl?
Well...., she could use some help picking out her clothes.

That's it folks......I wish I had more but you know Hollywood.....
that's a circle I don't travel in.
I'm thinking I wouldn't want to even if I could...
except for their bank accounts - that's a circle I'd like to travel.

So moving on...

I've been baking, washed the dirty dishes from the kitchen sink, and have listed the projects I've yet to complete (I thought if I listed them maybe they'd be completed quicker).
the weather forecast was
for a bit of rain...
so I pulled out a big pot

decided to try a new recipe...
my daughter asked me "why?"
after I told her I was going to put
crackers into a bowl of ice water
and then into the oven

I've knit countless dish clothes
 to use up cotton yarn
I'm deciding which patterns
hold up best to all the scrubbing

This was before I started cooking
thought I'd show you the sink now
since it's rarely without
dirty dishes

My market.....
to be honest this has really
helped with my meal planning
I thought since this may be our only day of rain this year.....I slipped on the gloves to see if they fit
Thank you Juju....
I'm going with your suggestion..
my signature - one missing button
this could apply to several of my
store bought clothes too...
The rain arrived....
30 minutes later...
the kitchen was filled with the aroma
of Italian soup....

So here's the deal with the crackers - Ice Water Crackers
Heat the oven to 400 degrees

one cookie sheet (I used parchment paper)
one package saltine crackers
1/2 stick melted butter (or more)
pastry brush

one large bowl full of water
several handfuls of ice cubes

dunk six crackers at a time in the ice bath
count to 20
remove them onto the cookie sheet

continue doing this
(one package fills one large cookie sheet)

fill the sheet with wet crackers
 brush every cracker with
the brush dipped in melted butter
use all the butter (I should have used a bit more)

bake at 400 for 10 minutes,
reduce heat to 300 degrees and
bake 5 more minutes

don't let them get too browned...
cool and store in airtight container.

I've decided if I do this again...
I'll add more butter
the center crackers with the most butter
were the best....

Like I had said, my daughter asked "why"
I answered
"because I have to know how this tastes"
crackers in ice,,,n then butter?

it's reasoning like this that keeps
me from getting other stuff done.
but I had to know how it tastes.

Have a great day...
see you soon

the kitchen looks so good! i like it. and i am so curious to what the crackers tasted like. :) I made a new meatball and mashed potatoes dinner from a recipe from The Pioneer Woman. I love her recipes!! They were so yummy. Tonight or tomorrow i am going to try her pot roast recipe.

I've never heard of dipping crackers in water, but if it tastes good, go for it! Your soup looks delicious!
