All Aboard

We originally met in Walnut Creek in the rain at a Chevron gas station....arriving only a few minutes apart...
how 'bout that?? We came from totally different locations and arrived in the pouring rain minutes apart??
So the decision was to eat or shop.....we opted for parking and shopping....for the most part the rain was sporadic so we could dash from shop to shop...we came to a halt when everyone spotted the BUCK HORN GRILL....the food won out - you saw the photos this a.m...who would walk pass that?

after a great meal we headed to find a "George"....I later learn that's the name of a French chicken

there's a store called Kitchen Table.....one and a half foot steps into the front door SIL and I headed directly to a wire basket full of large stained eggs...when we walked away.....three remained behind.

by the time we left the store....a large awesome pan, fourteen stained eggs, two French chickens and a wallet with a lot less cash walked out.

The rain continued and with our hands and bags full we headed to the hotel - Embassy Suites

everyone was a bit tired so we disappeared to our room to unpack and settle in - for about 10 minutes...
there was a complimentary bar to investigate and dinner plans to make...and more rain

that's where the fish come in....the only thing available to photograph was the bar aquarium

a glass of wine, conversation catching up on our lives, kids, health and Mexican food was the destination choice...Maria Maria...

a nice laugh filled drive in the hotel van with a couple of other guests on their way to the local sports bar, we climbed out (still raining) and were soon told it would be an hour wait...

this was an adventure weekend...that includes being flexible...we were hungry....Maria Maria...she wasn't worth 60 minutes

three wet blocks, a turn to the left brought us to The Campfire....
a family run restaurant since 1980...a grilled fish taco, blended margarita and a waitress with six children sharing her summer vacation plans with us....we were all content - except "when's the van coming?"

Remember?? Flexibility.......

Back to the comfortable rooms and goodnights said...bed was calling..with fingers crossed for sunshine in the morning

Our wish came true....sunshine the entire day......a short walk across the street took us to the public transportation - The Bart

Ticket in hand and we were off to begin the day - first there would be lines....

Clutter on her arms...clutter in her hands....

A

A longer line here

My first cable ride was lucky number 11

For a moment I thought it was Sicily again..

My first ever cable car ride

These little hands belonged to a young girl riding the cable car with her Daddy...he told her to hold tight.

She stood on the front edge balancing on the side steps...he held tight to her body....
I wondered if she would remember one day this special moment they shared together...I hope she does.

Have a great few hours..I'll be back soon....we got off the trolley....to walk....a very long way

Oh, how lovely! It sounds like you had such a wonderful FLEXIBLE time. Those are the best vacations, when you go where life leads you!

I love the cable car pictures. I've never been to SF, so I appreciate being able to enjoy it through you!

Thank you for the pictures of one of my favorite cities in the country!

It's all about being flexible (well most of the time!)
