Pockets for Africa....

Thank you Lori (check out Lori Times Five) for the opportunity of sending a gift...from my heart to theirs.

Friday afternoon we drove East...to Lake Havasu....our little piece of Heaven

I packed up all my UFO's (unfinished projects in the knitting dept)....and Manos yarns...for pockets....

Going to Africa....such fun knitting....I could have made dozens if I thought there'd be room in her bag

I took along other knitting stuff,,,lots of stuff ......

I frogged all my projects (this means ripped them totally apart....ouch)....all tweleve of them

This was Long Overdue.....now they're neatly waiting on the shelf for another day...another project

Then the fun really began...I woke up early Saturday morning and started knitting pockets...

Lori Times Five" ...a favorite of mine....she's going to Africa and has given us the opportunity of sending along pockets for the children...I started knitting...it was addictive...I would have knit more..but the post office in the landing works on bankers hours....short banker's hours...like an hour and a half on Saturdays.

They needed something a surprise inside..."Air Heads"...light weight and flat.....
they reminded me of my own children enjoying eating them when they were young...

Then, off to the Post Office in time for the pick up......a rather simple uninpressive location...
in the middle of the desert...
on an Indian reservation...
where they drive golf carts to work....

A box was mailed off with the market bag to Sacramento...
Pockets off to Africa...
A water bill off to the tribe...

That my friends..was the excitement of my weekend...it was all boring and quiet and uneventful after that..

Just the way we like it....the baby blanket continues....it may be one of my favorites

I love garter stitch...all soft and squishy........you'll see it next weekend when I expect to have it finished.

Man In Black was busy with the boat motor...purred like a kitten....

We're set for Summer... bring it on.....the lake's big and so's the boat...you're ALL INVITED
While he worked and sweated bent over .... I made him quacamole to enjoy when he came inside...
I'm thoughtful that way...that's why he keeps me around....

To my kids and grandbaby traveling in Tuscany right now..
You should have sent me a ticket to join you....whaa whaa whaa.....

Even my jammies have lap dogs on them

pockets under construction

All done...almost

wondering what they'll put inside??
pebbles?
plants?

All done...
a stick of
candy
enjoy them kids....:-)

My hero

a handful of post office boxes
and a
"for sale" corkboard
is all you'll find inside

let the frogging begin

it's less heartbreaking ripping out
when you do it
eating a 50/50 ice cream bar

when all our work was done....

we enjoyed eating and watching

"Lost In Space"

on t.v...they have the coolest station

out there where we can see our

childhood television shows

see you soon friends

Those pockets are seriously the cutest things I've ever seen. Adding the airhead is perfection.

I want to live somewhere to drive golf carts for work and play!
And oh those avocados. True food of the gods!

I think your weekend sounds like it was AWESOME. I hope the week is just as good!

Lake Havasu is so wonderful ... It has been more years than I want to remember since we were there last. Those pockets are precious. Since I am really NEW at knitting, I must check out that garter stitch you used ... Looks very interesting.
Anyways, enjoy your vaca...
Much Peace,
Barb

I love reading your blog...can't knit a stitch to save my life but can crochet like there's no tomorrow (as long as there isn't a pattern to follow).

Sounds like a fabulously relaxing weekend!

your pockets arrived kyle! they are awesome, thank you so much. the candy is perfect, and i'm quite sure that not just children will be using them.
good luck with the frogging (i strangely like doing it, ending up with new wool is always a good thing). :)
