Roosters, geese, and now roadrunners....
I kept remembering that scene from Jurassic Park.....
when the Raptors where trying to get to the kids hiding in the kitchen...
This bird kept making a sound with it's beak and it's claws made me think prehistoric....
But what gave me the willys was how he zoomed with those fast Roadrunning legs my direction with those feathers raised up on top of his head the minute I wanted to step outside.....
He would have definitely come inside if we stepped back and opened the door more than a few inches..
Somewhere in this bird's life he's been living on a sofa safe from Wyl E. Coyote
I was remembering the kindnesses given to Steve and I.... the gifts that maybe you'll want to share with someone who's life may be experiencing a difficult time...
People took time from work to drive Steve to appointments so I could continue to work and save my vacation/sick time for later when it would be more difficult for him to be alone
I came home to discover neighbors and friends had organized meals to be dropped off so I'd have something to eat (Steve was on a feeding tube and I wasn't much interested in preparing something for myself) my friends knew I'd see how long I could live on a box of cookies
Cards, cards, cards of best wishes and prayers sent to Steve...I've saved every one of them....
Steve so appreciated the support sent to him....we were overwhelmed by the thoughtfulness
So much support and care....if you know someone??
Any offers of help...walking the dog..taking out and returning the trash cans...watering the potted plants...
anything to pick up the pieces of daily life that falls apart when sickness comes...
I would suggest doing it...if you say "let me know what you need"...they won't ask..
It's just to hard to figure out what you need when it feels like the sky is falling....
Tomorrow...I have completed knitting to share....did you pick up on the word "completed?"....
I'm on a roll...things are moving from to-do-list..... to.....completed and checked off

Thanks for the tip about how to help in practical ways. My friend is starting chemo this thurs to sat.
Lovely ideas to help someone out. When my next door neighbor had a bone marrow transplant, I always took their garbage cans up and weeded for them. Simple, but they didn't have to think about it. We have a weekly dinner planned for my knitting group friend, taking turns it is so easy to do and so helpful. I also knit chemo caps and a prayer shawl, something I could do for them that helped me too.
That bird is so interesting.
Have a great day,
Meredith
All of those kindnesses you list are 'huge' to the families of those going through that difficult time. When Kami was going through her treatment, all of the Portland firefighters that our son-in-law work with, "Gave" their time, like vacation and holiday time, not to be paid back, so that Colin could be with home with Kami at those critical times. An entire crew of these precious firefights came over before Christmas and brought the tree, put lights on it and brought lights and put them on the house..they and their spouses brought meals as did church friends and family members. During her entire treatment the house was a terminal of coming and goings of love and gifts. There is not enough room in this comment section to list all of those large and small but not forgotten acts of love. xo
I rather like your roadrunner and think it is unusual he will let you get so close.....
Great suggestions. I hope I will never need to use them, but know that in reality, I will. I really like the one about driving him to appointments.
And, I think this little fella must be on the welcoming committee?
"Randy" the Roadrunner really did seem to be attracted to you... moving in your direction. What a strange bird!! Never seen anything like it.
