5" & Alone

Steve called from the back door "Kyle, come here!!"....since he's a man of very few words...EVER...

I knew that I best skidaddle outside and see why he was callin'.....

This little fellow was blinking in wonder about the huge creature holding him.....

Alone and much too young to be away from Mama, he probably fell off while she manuvered her way through our fruit trees

He/She was a sweet little critter...tiny teeth and nails.....ears and fur soft as a kitten...

A phone call to the local rescue (yup, they have rescues for these weird little animals)
and a short time later a uniformed City Employee rolled up to the house to retrieve Him/Her....

He inspected Him/Her to see if it appeared sick - nope....just too young to be alone.....

I asked City Employee if people kept them as pets and he answered "Sure do!!!...they can be quite tame after just a few short minutes even if caught as adults".....

Steve wasted no time in a firm "You're not keeping it" statement and thanked the uniformed City Employee for adding it to the collection of other critters aboard his truck.....

Household Pet Count -  Dogs  =       Four
                                      Cat    =      One
                                      Opossum = Zero     :-(

Oh bless him! I would have had the same experience, the hope to keep him and the very quick NO from the husband. :-)

That little possum was so lucky to land in your yard. I hope his mama doesn't miss him too much.

Happy Anniversary, really lovely post about your love. And this cutie is sure something. He/she is adorable. We have several adults around our home that drive my Max crazy, opossums and armadillos make him go mad. Have a wonderful weekend,
Meredith

We have nightly visits from possums...people are always afraid of them but they are really more afraid of us!! They really do play possum too...especially when your over excited dog gets them up a tree!! Happy Friday!!

Oh, darling little one...I think they are adorable; lots of people think they are hideous. Good for you for being so kind. Karma points, for sure! We have baby skunks perambulating around out yard at the moment...freakin' cute! Tallulah got sprayed several years ago, and now when she sees one, she puts on the brakes and backs up (like in a cartoon!).

We've had quite a few of these ourselves. I showed my husband your post, and he reminded me that our welsh terrier has been known to wipe out whole families under our house. So, this is one lucky baby possum!! Glad that you didn't keep this one as a pet. They are awfully cute when little, but they make me cringe when I see a big one in the yard!

I don't much like them when they are full-grown, but this little guy is sure cute!

we have some adults around -- guess that must mean we have babies. That baby was cute, but I think the adults are U*G*L*Y!! I've had one attack me, growling and hissing AND they eat eggs in the nest. Hope your cute baby goes to a zoo.
