we're finding a rhythm to the schedules of daily life as we move around the space of "home"...
one bird is looking to finally fly from the nest so we may spread our wings a bit throughout the house in the next month or so...she's going to be missed, but all birds must leave....fly my little birdie - fly.....
the weather's changed...at least for the past four days...tomorrow - back into the 90's..
but this slight change has been enough to excite me for what's to come...
the 60's...
I know to most folks this is silly since in your area of the country this would be considered warm, but here in Southern California....it's Fall and most of Winter so we'll break out the cute jackets and boots and woolies and make the most of it.....
I have several small projects stuffed inside my bag.....small because I'm hoping to complete them shortly keeping the ball rolling with "off the needles" as opposed to the countless "UFO'S" in the other stuffed bags....
I bought this bag at JC Penney....for $14.00 on clearance...
When I first saw it and picked it up I loved it...why???
It may sound a bit odd but my first thought was it reminded me of Mary Poppins...
I love the shape ....satchel....and I thought of the scene where Poppins kept pulling out goodies from her bag...including a huge lamp....
I haven't watched that movie in years but it's the first thing that came to my mind when I picked it up..
when I opened to look inside...I loved it even more....
adorable print inside....
I'm using it for my knitting projects.....and another surprise about this bag...
the little peace sign on the bottom corner...
Zoe spotted my bag one morning and pulled out a skein of yarn....I love that.....
why would I be happy she pulled apart a beautiful skein of wool???
because I'm hoping that somewhere tucked inside her little head she's stored a memory of her Grandma's knitting bag that looked like Mary Poppins with tiny pink rose print fabric inside with her wooden knitting needles - and from this satchel bag with a "peace" sign on the bottom corner came knitted projects for people her Grandma loved....
but that's my wish...who knows...perhaps she'll tell me one day of her memories with my yarn stuffed bags throughout the house...
until then....I fancy inside my own head my connection with Mary Poppins....don't you wish we could grab a handle shaped parrot umbrella and fly??? how fun would that be??
but thankfully there is something out there that brings me this joy.....
after countless visits to car dealerships...Auto Trader online searching...
I found my car...."my car"....truth be told...it feels more like a new pet than an automobile
I haven't been without a car since I was 16 years old...yes, Steve and I have two cars but they are both his in a sense..his commuter car for work and the truck...both have my name on the title but neither do I want to drive...they're not "me",,,
so in search of "me" I looked to Toyota, Ford, Honda, BMW.....all types....none felt right....
I scoured the roadways as people drove past in every shape and color of automobile created for the Southern California highways.....looking for "the one"...
little did I know it was in Palm Springs.....waiting for me to find it...
Michelle & De....they're responsible for guiding me along in my search....they connected me to the owner (Amber..a super sweet girl..Steve is still in awe of her waxing her own car) and with their help..
my search is over....it came home with me yesterday....
I had a hard time sleeping last night....several times I got up to go look at it
(Steve would say in the darkness of our room - "it's fine" when I quietly came back)
I told him I wished I could park it in the livingroom....
today we took a drive....a wonderful drive along the coast....lunch at a beachside taco booth....
sizzling temps that would have made the top off resulting in sun scorced flesh....
we drove...enjoying every bump and rattle of our new toy....
and then....the perfect ending...
at a four way stop....a few blocks from home....we came face to face with another Wrangler...
a long outstretched arm waved a happy Hawaiian greeting wave to us....
and yes...we eagerly returned the gesture....

It sounds like you had a marvelous weekend, although, I must say I'm curious about this bird flying off?
