within 2 minutes on the freeway I received a quick toot from a fellow driver with a "thumbs up" of approval towing Ariel....
another minute later I was closely followed by a California Highway Patrol car...
he tailed too closely.... not sure what he was looking at (maybe the pink bouquet of flowers tied along side the back license plate????) anyway, he drove past with a sour puss expression on his face and exited the next offramp....
I was behind the wheel on my first trip through Los Angeles heading to Big Sur....
life was good....
but since we'd left so early....
we had a couple of hours to fill before checking in to our campsite .....
so Cambria, California was the perfect stop over....
I had always wanted to visit this shop.... nothing came out with me.... I have enough yarn at home to last me years ... |
this is how the locals shop..... |
Steve's made me fence boards like these since the first time we saw them... cute aren't they? |
Steve's promised to paint me an old door like this... to replace the bathroom door in the guest room.... how cute that will be!!!!! |
after a quick taco for lunch from a local catering truck in town....a favorite of the locals....
and a few moments of TOO MUCH stress pulling out of the parking lot (thankfully Steve behind the wheel now or I would most definitely FREAKED OUT BIG TIME)...
the hitch became literally wedged between the asphalt and concrete sidewalk crack...
the truck blocking traffic in the street...the trailer stuck in the parking lot.....
after helping hands from two locals in unhitching and backing up the trailer and moving the truck forward....
we were up and running and ready to roll again....
but not before having a woman rolling down her car window and smiling, waving and shouting....
"I LOVE YOUR TRAILER!!!!!!
so off we went.....
no shopping bags in the car but a "wish list - honey do" list for Steve after gathering ideas of future projects
I was hungry and still feeling the effects of the momentary mishap in the parking lot so a quick potato/onion foil wrap connection and steaks on the grill...
and I was soon putting together a new cocktail from my Sisters on the Fly cookbook.....
since we were after all camping on the coast...
a Pirate's Sunset seemed the perfect drink of choice...a bit of rum, apple juice, grenadine and a cherry...
let the good times roll.....
