today:

I was thinking to myself that if I was a talented person with fabric and a sewing machine (which I'm here to tell you I'm not)......

I would come up with something cute using these two old bedsheets....

or at least the start of something cute along with other fabrics added with them....

there's a blog I often read where the women reminds me of The Old Woman In The Shoe...

only in this case she's not old...and she lives in a farm house....

where she rips apart old clothes, sheets, blankets...whatever and makes all kinds of cozy things for her offspring....

and that's after she's fed the sheep, spun a few skeins of yarn and put up a Winter's worth of relish...

I don't have that kind of talent...I just saw the print on the old sheet and thought "cute".....

then I washed it, folded it and returned it to the dresser drawer ......

then I did remember the clever thing I came up with a couple of years back.....

Zoe was two weeks old and we were in Italy seeing her for the first time....yes, Italy...

I don't know who was luckier...Zoe being born there or me visiting my first grand baby in ITALY!!!

Anyway...I wanted to remember how small she was...I wanted her one day to see our first meeting....

so I asked Eric to take our picture....

after we returned home I framed the photo and placed it on the dresser in a room what would later become Zoe's bedroom while she lives with us......

she recently turned two years old and I wanted again....to remember her growing...

I showed her the original photo and explained the tiny hand was hers along with Nana's....

she carried the framed photograph clutched to her chest and said "mine...no...mine"

recently we took an updated photo  .... a keepsake to look back on....

in a few more years I'll take another...

perhaps her hands will show a childhood scar, a ring from a special person, a neon colored polish..

mine will show a few more lines, brown spots, the gold bands given to me by my soulmate.....

it's my special gift to Zoe ...... these are the hands that love her....

I love you baby...with all my heart.....

This is the sweetest post. I absolutely LOVE this idea, and the photos even more. Those little chubby hands with the chipped polish? O M G, they make me well up with tears!

Lovely post, touching sentiments. My kids each have their special memories with grandma and I would have loved to have taken a photo of their little hands in hers back in time. The last photo is precious.
As for the fabrics, just enjoy them as they are. Use them as picnic mat, table cloth, drape them over a day bed etc, they are too lovely to stay in the dresser. Or use them in that pretty camper of yours! Where is she by the way when you are not out camping? Is it in your back yard? Does Zoe get to play house in it?
