task...completed

the time passed quickly as expected...

the activities varied as expected too..

the youth enjoying a game of beer pong...(or several games.... for hours)...
and still standing and fairly sober when we walked by again late afternoon....although....a few missing

I wished for those youthful days again...

a bit more wishing for cute ironwork for my garden....

a bit of wondering what the short wooden fence was doing on top of a tall block wall....

a thought of "should we launch the boat for a quick zip around the lake?"

our task of repairs completed we returned home....

to a surprise....

shortly after unpacking a familiar sound was heard....

the dogs began barking and watched with their wet noses pushed against the screen door while Zoe came up the walkway carried by her parents.....

she quickly wasted no time plucking her "new favorite" doll (a handmade doll made many years ago by me for my Grandmother) and climbed into her bedroom chair ......

alone in the room she held her doll and began singing the tune from Little Mermaid.....

the tiny seed has been planted.....

these will be her memories....her place of contentment........her bedroom at Grandmas...

there will be many rooms in her life....

but this room...this place, this space will be like no other....

it holds her first memories....

it will become a place I hope in years to come she'll want to return to....

it will become her anchor in life....we are Zoe's history.....
