there's progress..
the Christmas decorations are packed away ..
thoughts of Valentines Day have already begun to swirl...
perhaps Mom would be interested in joining me for a trip to the fabric store?
she's never been a crafter...or cook..
but she's up front and center for a trip out shopping and lunch..
maybe Gayle would join us?...

now that I think about it...I'm not a crafter either
I need to find a store "sample" and basically copy it exactly....
I don't own a hot glue gun...
I've heard without that in your inventory...don't even consider yourself as a crafter
I do own a sewing machine...
we don't get along unless I want to go in one direction with one stitch length..

I wouldn't consider a new sewing machine....I have a history with this one...
it's a love/hate relationship that's decades long...
it will stay with me to the end....

I recently broke the sewing needle...that was a first...made me a bit sad it couldn't go the distance
who knew a little box of replacements were so inexpensive?...
my little needle was original and Made In USA - China now stamped on every package...
together my little machine and I have begun the "trailer curtain project"...
the side curtains have bobbin tension issues....the sink curtains - perfect
love/hate - I've threatened to retire it to the back of the darkest closet or melt it up in the attic...

but like any long term relationship - you hang on...even if it's by a thread...which in this case? it is

I probably have the same one.... my mom's old singer portable machine with an apron I was making still jammed in the machine. How many years ago was that? too many......

I learned to sew on my grandma's Iowa front porch. It was a black singer that you stepped on a plate to operate. I remember her loud shriek when I went full speed ahead. She was so sure I would sew right through my fingers. She had a stash of materials in the attic. Yards and yards of every color and print you could imagine. She made me promise not to talk about the treasure with grandpa! "Sew" much fun!
