Saturday afternoon we spent the day attending a wedding....
always special...always brings tears to my eyes...

she was radiant...
he was relaxed and proud...

and when it was over....

I wondered if it was worth all the money they spent....

Sunday........it was a banner of a day....

the pendants are up and flapping in the afternoon breeze...

Zoe was over for a visit, so we did what most grandparents do...we went for a walk...

the rusty little wagon that her Daddy once pushed,  rode and played with now took her down the same sidewalks of downtown..

first stop:
the donut shop....it's where she had her first glazed donut hole
second stop:
parking on Main Street,
where coffee shops are humming, smelling of fresh roasted beans filling the air as the doors opened, customers saying "excuse me" as they passed each other in and out the entrance..
the window cases full of assorted danish....shelves lined with cups and portable containers of every shape and color for purchase....

Zoe's little wagon lined with an overside pillow for softening the ride,
Snow, the newest of stuffed animals was the selected toy to join the early morning stroll while window shopping....

outside diners began to fill the empty seats as restaurants doors opened...
bicycles and dogs left nearby....the smaller breeds lucky to be under tables or curled on laps for outdoor seating....

the retail doors remain locked, giving the shopkeepers more time to set up displays, count the opening balances and freshen up the sales counter, or adjusting the music for the coming day...

Zoe chattering like a little squirrel, talking to Grandpa, her cat Snow, and herself....
Nana was making mental notes to herself of which shops to return to for further inspection when alone....
the "humble" sign....how much would it read on the tag as the sale price?
the navy blue summer dress..what would it look like on?...it was so cute it just has to be perfect?
the measuring cups....do I to buy them so Pam and I will continue our history of parallel lives?
just because they were perfectly adorable would be enough of a reason to bring them home...

we walked, talked, listened as Zoe pointed out and questioned everything...
the streets quiet from the sounds of autos...

a few scattered walkers, a bike or two...one single dog on a leash for a walk...
one young girl in a pink tee pushing herself along with one foot atop a scooter while Dad followed..

a perfect Sunday morning stroll..

by the time we returned to the parked car....
the outdoor restaurant chairs were nearly filled...
diners lined the sidewalk waiting across the street at a favorite breakfast eatery...
a group of four with cell phones and yoga mats crossed our path heading towards "Hot Yoga"...

Zoe's chubby soft baby skinned legs stretched out in front of her in the wagon...
showing space for growth before her shoes touch the other side...
plenty of time for more early downtown walks before she too...out grows a little red wagon....

next time Zoe joins us for an early morning Sunday?....
we'll pass on our usual visit for donut holes and advance to the "word on the street review" and try a local breakfast joint....but we'll pass on all the coffeehouses...never have gotten the taste for a fresh cup of joe.....but I do love a cute coffee cup!!!

our downtown has really taken on a small town feel with some really cool shops reflected beautifully in your photos. LUV THOSE BANNERS....wonder if they would keep cats & kittens out of the yard...

always love your pictures...zoe will have so many amazing memories with you. I love how she is strolling down the same street eric did when he was her age in the same wagon...also you must tell zoe next time she goes downtown with you that her daddy and mommy met and fell in love on those few blocks in downtown :)
