Blessings.....Birthdays....Boots.. &. Books

Friday I turned another year older....do I mind? Not in the least. With age comes wisdom, and this past year has been another learning experience. At the rate of these learning experiences  I think I may actually be "wise" by the time my life span is over. I've learned to let go...of everything - no more worry, people are curious....they ask if I can do this with everything. They come back to me later and tell me they are trying to remember this practice and apply it to their own lives. They watch me.....they wonder about me.....they want the same "calm" they say they see in me.....I think they're waiting to see if the "experiment" fades away and I go back to fretting. I have learned no matter how much I may think I can control or prevent the events that occur in life....I'm only fooling myself....Trust and go enjoy the day is how I now approach my life.
I wish I would have learned this years ago - during my children's teenage years would have been nice - for everyone in the house!

Check out my new rain boots.....and it rained this weekend so I put them to good use.

New books!!!! Someday maybe chickens....until then I'll just read about them.

Man in Black's Dinner...Spicy Shrimp & Noodle Soup

1 pound fresh -or frozen medium shrimp (tails off)
1 Tbsp. lemon juice
1/4 tsp. chili powder
1/4 tsp. ground cumin
1/8 tsp. pepper
3 cups water
2 - 3oz. pkgs. shrimp or oriental flavored ramen noodles
1 - 16oz. jar salsa (I use Pace Pacante "Hot")
1 - 15oz can black beans, rinsed and drained
1 - 8oz. can whole corn - drained

Toppings.
1/4 cup snipped fresh cilantro
1 green onion
shredded cheddar cheese

Thaw shrimp, mix with lemon juice, chili powder, cumin, pepper. Let stand at room temp.
Boil water, add flavor packet from ramen noodles and break noodles and add to boiling water, cook for 1-2 minutes to cook noodles, add shrimp.
Stir in salsa, beans, corn , heat through.

Serve with desired toppings, enjoy...if your family isn't "spicy" eaters you may want to tone down the "heat" and use a mild salsa instead.

Have a great Monday - I hope to have new knitting posted  by Tuesday, enjoy your day friends!!!
