Turkey Legs.....

Dressed for the occasion and on our way.....

Down the freeway, up the dirt roads, and we arrived for the Thanksgiving celebration.  A cool 47 degrees made the house feel extra warm and inviting, the smell of roasting turkey and pictures to capture the day made for good memories. Thanksgiving always brings into clarity the things in life that are truly meaningful and valuable.

A drive around the desert to look at other homes (I always appreciate folks that leave their curtains open so I can see inside!) and a walk after dinner (short walk, too cold for this sissy in 41 degrees) and we were back on the road heading home. A slumber party was originally planned but Man in Black had the option to work the following day so we opted for the extra cash....Nice thing about this desert location - we have a standing invitation to return:) Check out the blog Spare Parts and Pics on the right side of this page for additional pictures of this great place!!

So what's happening with my knitting progress???? Sorry to say - not much. I keep flitting from one project to another without completing any one of them.....one glove, one bootie, half completed scarf, half completed hat...tomorrow I'm working on a sewing project. Didn't know I did sewing projects? I don't.....not even close. Two squares together, two different sizes of fabric. I've pinned, I've ripped out seams, I've pinned again. But before the sewing even began I was having problems. My MIL gave me her sewing machine, I thought "cool, a newer machine than the 30+ year old Singer I have". Well, the top stitch looked good - but the bobbin stitch!!!!!!! Loosy Goosy no matter what tension was selected, so out came the 30+ year old machine. The stitches are fine, both top and bottom but the fabric is messy. The plan is to lay out the two fabrics, one over the other and cut to match.....but where??? The only location is on the wood floor and I don't know how many of you have ever lived with a Dalamation but those rascals shed every minute of every day for their entire life!! Little white hairs are everywhere in my house, I'm talking everywhere! So, the plan is to lay out, cut, sew, and straight to the washing machine (also where you'll find dog hair) and hope for the best.

I do have this little treasure to share with you - a special gift to me for my birthday from a friend. This will be a very special knitting project for a very special someone I'll share with you at a later date. Still in the "underconstruction" phase.

You see this picture? - well, I'm going to plant myself on the sofa in front of this fire and pick up the needles and get those projects done so you'll have something new to see on your next visit to my blog....the two painted bricks on either side of the fireplace, Man in Black painted.  Hope you are pleasantly stuffed from yesterday's meal, memories to hold you over until next year, and the gratitude is overflowing from the gifts in your life.

See you soon.....

Aren't those dirt roads great? Something about rattling around on a dirt road that just shakes away all the stress. Thanks for the great pics!

sounds like a great Thanksgiving...gotta love the roaring fireplace.....nothing beats being curled up to the fire with a good book or in your case, a pair of knitting needles...
