So, you figure out how much you need to buy (generally calculating the amount needed because you have only seen the pattern) make the purchase and then ask yourself - "now where was that pattern I saw?"....
I spent several hours surfing through Ravelry looking for that pattern, how many different patterns that are "Vests" would you guess are on Ravelry????? Hundreds?, Well, your right... Now maybe you're one of those people who when seeing a pattern you are jiffy quick making a colored copy, slip it nicely into a plastic jacket and place it into a three ring binder with dividers marked appropriately. Well....good for you, I'm one of those people who aspire to be like that, however, I'm overly confident in myself saying - "oh ya, I'll remember this." Those living around me could tell you most of the time I don't remember where I even left my purse.......
I did find the pattern eventually but in the process wasted a great deal of time - next time if there is even a 25% chance I'll ever make a pattern I hope to remember this search - the pattern is simple, and unfortunately the only one my Mom picked so finding it was necessary, a substitute was not an option.
So I've been winding.....started knitting......and thought to myself, "why is this not looking like the pattern?".
The photo shows a definite grid pattern, the written pattern - not so. I'll go back and look for any possible corrections on Ravelry to see if anyone else has experienced this issue.....fellow knitters are so wonderful about lending a helping hand!!
Lesson 2 on the piano today, Man In Black is feeling under the weather today so he'll be home relaxing while I bring home the bacon.....
The weekend forecast is in the high 70's - low 80's....sorry to all the folks who will be shoveling snow off their driveways Saturday morning, come visit California.....we need your tax dollars:)

I do this all the time with patterns and recipes.
You would think I would learn by now....Oh well!

Trying to find that pattern is hard work. Ravelry is an enabler, oh but so many patterns.
Now I tend to either queue it straight away if I like it or even a maybe. Or I fave a one I particularly like. At least maybe I will have a hope of finding it even if my queue is way too long (I delete them down the track if I change my mind) :-)
Oh okay so i am not alone others do this to, Yes! I am taking the advise from Maria and will start queuing them its okay to delete later, brilliant
Hope you managed to find what's wrong with the vest pattern because the grid design is real pretty.
