Wow....Where Was I?

There must have been a brief period of time in my life when I lost my mind.....

how do I know this?

because I selected and painted my walls this color......

You get the idea?
I put on a bit of dry goods so you
see the direction I'm going
why did I paint this color???? I vaguely remember thinking I wanted something different - a color separate from the kitchen....

I have no idea what I was thinking selecting this color....not a single clue.

This may be another time in life where I've gone off the deep end....

I have decided to remove all the food items from inside the kitchen shelves and put them in one single location. You understand right? To remove the digging and pawing around inside cupboards seaching for that lost box of jello..."where are those crackers I bought?"....."I know there was guacamole mix in here somewhere". "How many boxes of brown sugar do I have in here?"

On the off chance of finding something that would work....I headed downtown.....to an antique store where vendors rent little booths and sell their treasures.
And there it was....waiting, covered in red and white dishes.
I bought it, slid it into the back of the truck and raced it home.

Keep in mind.....the walls will be painted soon....no where near the same color!!!! Light shades...sort of.
But you get the general idea of what I'm thinking.

I have architectural windows throughout
the house
see the bakers rack behind it?
I want to select dry goods from a single area in my kitchen -
no wonderful pantry was included in the floor plan by the builder way back when....

Keep in mind also....I live in earthquake territory...with this in mind....I'm keeping the glass jars down low.
The rack will be strapped to the wall and in the event of a shaker....I'll only have one place to go for food supplies which will be conveniently scattered all over the floor in a single messy pile.
The other reason I'm doing this, I want more shelf space for my dishes...you know, for all the dinner parties we host. If memory serves me....the last one was somewhere around 2001.

So, keeping in mind the change of wall color and the orderly convenience of dry goods....
I'm simplifying my life.
Man In Black has been comment free on my mission....he's probably holding his breath to see what color the walls will be when he turns on the kitchen light at 4:30 a.m. while getting ready for work and wondering if the shock will be anything close to Martini Olive Green he's been quietly tolerating for WAY TOO LONG.

I suppose time will tell what state of mind I'm currently in....two tone cabinets, glass doors, one stop shopping from shelves...I'm looking for simple...comfort....clean.....order.....

I must have been looking for a buzz when I slapped on the Martini Olive paint brush a few years back....yikes, yikes & YIKES.

Enjoy your Monday....I'll take this "orderly state of mind" to work with me - the "boss" will appreciate it.

That rack is a beaut. I'm so impressed by the fact that you can drive a truck!
And you had me laughing so hard again :)
Good luck with the painting!

The rack is a real dream... I like the idea of being able to see what I have too. Being just hubby and I the past few years, we don't have too much in our cupboards at a time. I hope you share your new paint color with us.
Blessings~

Your baker's rack is wonderful! We've all been there thinking we picked the perfect color, then stepped back and went YIKES! It didn't look like that on the paint chip! Will be interested to see what color you end up with!
