Did I say "relaxing?"....

It was..

exactly as I had hoped the days would unfold.

I started the weekend with friends....The Hawaiian Bag Knitter and  Barks with Birds???
or something close to that...she pooped out on her blog....
anyway, a purling lesson was achieved after the Bag Knitter untangled a center pull ball of cotton.

I don't know about you but I'm no fan of pulling from the center of a skein of yarn...it usually ends up looking something like this...

I bought this to sew......for camera straps.....

I went here to check out a street sale downtown......this was the only thing that interested me....all the other stuff was tacky Halloween crafty or funky artwork that would never work in my world.

I ate this because I was missing my kids and grandbaby.......

It's not Sicily.....
but for a few moments..
I could pretend
eating this made me feel closer to them...not the same as Sicily -
but the flavor was wonderful and the little cups and spoons are the same - in my mind -
we were together again.

I saw this and thought of another loved one....."loved one" - do you know where this is??

I took this because it's hot outside and feels like Summer - in September....where's Fall???

I took this because it's a "First" for us....a real first....I signed our names in a book to our grandchild...
Love Grandma & Grandpa...I've never written those words to a grandchild before.

I shopped, cooked, cleaned, blogged, ate, and put a box full of love in the mail, walked the dogs, and framed a few more photos ....busy day...because this is how I approach life....and then.......
I saw it written on a window.....

every day I try to fill the hours with as many activities as possible, and feel a bit
depressed that I've wasted a precious day if I haven't....

Tomorrow  I'll have a new week to fill.....
with a vest to finish knitting,
with a new slouchy hat to start knitting,
with a dentist appointment,
(that won't be the highlight of my week, that's for sure!!!!),
and a movie after work with girlfriends.....

and a suitcase to pack...I'm heading to Chicago in a few days....but first....

I'm going to start my week with "awarding" a few special people, I was awarded and now it's time to pass the gift along.

I'll see you soon friends...
Tomorrow I'll post pictures of new baby hats that have been sent along with the mailman...
a picture of a vest I've got on the needles and needs to be completed very very
VERY soon...
and.....
some fingerless gloves I hope to complete before boarding the plane...
come along with me....you'll love this little town I'm heading to...
a great knit shop,
a wonderful gift store for lunch....
time spent on the breezeway...
and the upstairs back bedroom where I played "store" as a little girl.
knotty pine walls, old wall paper, childhood memories....I think you'll find it charming.

And, if I have a spare hour or two......I picked these up from the fabric store.....
for new baby hats......
the "peace" wooden button......
for a "Flower Power" hat....
for grandbaby Zoe....
for her parents who think the
1960's & 1970's were cool...
we had the Beatles...
we were cool...
Enjoy your week friends, I hope you'll fill your days beyond capacity....see you soon!!

P.S. For Team Sicily...W.I.P.'s means...work in progress...
which in my case means...a house full of bags stuffed with needles and skeins of yarn in nearly every room of the house.....and your bedroom closet too:-)

Hmmmm... actually, no idea where the Fender guitar is located. I'm guessing somewhere in our little town?? And you're right, we WERE cool... we had the Beatles and so much more!

Thanks for coming by and visiting my blog! I am now following your blog and look forward to interesting reading. I also have a blog for the lives of my parrots. www.thebeakwhisperer.blogspot.com

Your welcome over there as well. Don't you just love those funky buttons? We have a Fabric Depot here in Portland and they sell these buttons. I can think of so many things to use them for. What about you?

Ha! My center pull balls always end up looking like that. Worse actually. LOL. Love those buttons. And I have to say, that with my very first granddaughter just 4 months old, I can relate to that!

So excited for you and your growing family! The buttons are great and i agree the beatles were pretty great. You know the music LOVES Them and "we only live once" is no better motivator or reminder to be positive and busy... looks like you are mastering that as well.

Sorry your in a "missing" mode right now. We do adjust though -- I've learned that.

And for the record, I never pull the yarn from middle. The same thing happens to me!

It does sounds "relaxing" to me too.
what a beautiful weekend:)
I know what you mean about pulling from the center of the skein, but the other way the skein is always "escaping"....you just cant win:)

I don't like center pull balls either (whew! I've been wanting to say that for a long time). What gorgeous pics you have on your blog! I love how everything flows with the story you're telling. My girls are still young teens but I secretly can't wait to be a Grandma too! Big Congrats!!! :O)
