simmerin' the pot...

Since we've started camping again....all due to sweet trailer "Ariel"

I've become interested in "camp cooking"...

this will be beneficial for a couple of reasons...

#one....I want to eat good food while camping..... I mean great food while camping

#two...and far more important.....it will help prepare us for a major earthquake

the destruction in Oklahoma this past week has been a grim reminder of the fact I live on an earthquake fault line....

it's not a matter of "if"...it's "when" the "Big One" hits....but either which way the ground moves....

it's possible to be a magnitude leaving thousands without power, water, and shelter...

so I've treated myself to a fun new cookbook.....

Cast Iron Cooking.....recipes from Sisters on the Fly....

I'm looking forward to trying the new (old) cast iron pans and recipes....
and hopefully NEVER needing to put my skills to the test in the event of an earthquake...
but there's a lesson here....don't wait until it happens....prepare today.....

there's a third benefit to cooking with cast iron.....this is my favorite...

they are SO flipping heavy that they double for arm weighs.....I'm hoping if I cook with them often enough the saggy flapping under arm "wings" with tighten up.....

oh...the joys of aging and lack of exercising....
