chicks 'n yarns...

I recently picked up this book from our local bookstore - yes, I know ordering online is the modern way to go but I'm turning the other direction, remember....

simple, slow, and local.....

anyway, I love this little book crammed full of facts and photos and first time experiences written by the author....

there's a favorite blog I like to read....A Wooden Nest and Lindsay recommended I get a copy.....she's sweet and I'm so happy she shared this with me....

as I sit here in the quiet of an early morning before day break...

Annie on my lap, the cat softly meowing off somewhere near her bowl in hopes I'll return and add more fishy smelling chow....

the floor furnace snaps and pops while warming the cozy living room space....

a single meow, two dogs curled and asleep, three chicks in a cardboard box on the kitchen floor...

the ticking of a century old schoolhouse clock....

a single written sentence in my newly purchased book said it all.....

"a panting-dog desire to go back to simpler times".....

I know I'm headed in the right direction.....

the chicks are growing (and enjoy a few minutes in their future coop)....

Zoe will have childhood memories of Nana's chickens, and all the benefits animals bring to a child....

it's far from perfect, far from my dream of the acres, farmhouse, rolling hills....

but hey..you've got to start somewhere.....

the weather is changing....finally.....

last night logs burned in the fireplace.....the knitting needles returned after a long absence....

a new beanie has been cast on....

I love that fact that you are returning to simpler life, I love that you will expose your gorgeous granddaughter to it. A perfect way to live. I think we should all catch our breath, reassess and do the same.
Hugs,
