An Edge?

Well.....I have a tendency to hope to accomplish more than I actually get done, but, not to worry, it leaves me with a dozen things to do and that keeps life busy and moving forward.....remember what I said I'd do over a lunch hour? Well, I didn't consider it is in fact only an hour ....
Let's see how little I've completed on the knitting projects.....

Ok, here's the question, should I add a crochet or knit edge along the entire edging??? I'm thinking I should, it curls on the ends and I want it a bit wider...what do you think? I'm out of the colors so the edge will be white...yes? no?

With that said, let's talk about the box in the mail!!!!!!!  I've had to learn something new, and that is that it's okay to let your grown children give you expensive gifts. It's the receiving of them..., that's the hard part....as a Mom, I've always considered my roll to provide, care, and protect my children. That I should be the one giving them surprises and special gifts...well, the table has turned and now my grown son has wanted to give back to me in a big way...they sent me the camera that I've been waiting to purchase for quite sometime now. In today's economy I'm now putting into practice that old phrase - do you need it or do you just want it??  I've had a wonderful little snap and shoot Canon camera that has served me well for several years, but, after I discovered the world of blogging and the wonderful pictures I've seen others share and this place called "Flickr" I've considered purchasing this Rebel Canon....I put it out of mind and thought "maybe" for another day when it didn't feel like such an unnecessary purchase. I love this camera...I haven't taken a single picture yet and I know already I'll love it

What did I do on my lunch hour today??? I went to the fabric store to buy fun fabric to customize my camera strap........remember, I'm the one who doesn't sew? Well, I do now for my new camera.....tomorrow the sun will be out (today 79 degrees), I'm driving South to a beautiful area in the hills...to a lovely home....you can expect pictures...can't promise they'll be good but it won't be because the camera is the problem.....in the evenings this week I've been reading the manual, waiting until I have a full day of sunshine to enjoy it. It's interesting....as much as I wanted this camera and have been looking forward to the day I would make the purchase it feels so much more special to me now because of who gave it to me...this camera will take pictures of our first grandchild, our traveling, our daily life at home, you'd think I'd rip it out of the box and start shooting but instead I find myself waiting until I have an entire day to devote in the pleasure of my first "real" camera. There's a new vocabulary here I don't know, new words, terms, phrases....a photographers language I've yet to learn. Thank you Eric & Leah....it is more special to me than you both could know.....you've given me a gift on so many different levels.

I'll have a fun camera strap! I've added this to the "to do list" this weekend, I sew SLOW so it may take more than that amount of time.....

Here's my lunch hour purchase....I think she called them "charms"???? Cute, being the non seamstress that I am I was very taken with the "jellyrolls" and "charms"....I can sooooo understand why women flip over fabric...I'm a knitter - this I know for certain....several times I've planted myself in front of a sewing machine over the course of several decades waiting to see if something inside my head would click and I would enjoy the process.....it's just not happening gang.... - I can easily sit and put together a camera strap project and be as content with myself as those quilters I see who create lovely masterpieces...for me...a camera strap is my masterpiece.

They enclosed a wonderfully thoughtful card and three extra special surprises!! Hand painted bottle corks - much too pretty and I don't want to risk the chance of breaking the corks so I've decided to use them to hang jewerly. Even the Sicilian packing paper was fun they used to wrap them in, I'm keeping that too...

have a good evening - it's time to wind some yarn and read my owners manual...the waiting is almost over until sunrise and my camera and I go out into the world to capture whatever strikes my fancy...:)

I think an edge around the blanket will be the perfect way to finish it off. I don't know how to crochet, but a crochet edge always looks nice.

That is such an awesome present! Go ahead and let yourself enjoy it.

*Whoohoo* The blanket is adorable, I think perhaps a crochet border will be awesome (i think i heared its easier to weave in the ends) Whatever you decide to do it will be beautiful, that i know.

I am so excited for you and your new amazing, awesome, fantastic and fun camera that will now become an appendage of you (trust me, these things i know :)). I am looking forward to seeing pieces of the world through your lense. Enjoy and have fun!!!

btw ~ you now have to put a picture on your tag the generic head doesnt work anymore haha
