I looked around and thought about all the areas in life where I use glass in the course of a single day...
the sheltering window of home, a drinking vessel, containers of light, a windshield & mirror, the areas were countless...
but there was one single use of glass that made the most profound influence of quality on my life....as well as the life of countless others that we use each and every day......eye glasses....without them life literally takes on a different perspective.
these are the seeing eye glasses of Dr. Okey....he lived and practiced as a family doctor in the late 1800's in Du Page, Illinois.
Apparently these spectacles didn't aid in his driving abilities during his later years because he'd come barreling out of his property and crash consistently into my grandmother's tree.
I've read, as I'm sure most of you have already, that A Rural Journey has decided to discontinue Sunday Series 52 hopefully for only a short time.....I'm going to ask both my brother over @ http://sparepartsnpics.blogspot.com
to continue with a new topic each week....I'm also hoping Sacramento likescocacola will continue on too.

I've signed up for a new class....I'm going to learn something new....
it's so exciting I can hardly stand it..... really!! I've wanted to learn to do this FOREVER!!!
It begins October 12th....I'll show you on Monday what it is..until then??? I'm test painting shades for the kitchen...cleaning....cooking....ordering curtains.....
Seriously, this new project and the class, this is going to be really special - or it could end up being the biggest mess I've ever created....
I'm going with "positive" - it will be great!
I hope....I hope.....it will be too disappointing for it not to go any other way....

Wow, these came out really, really good! Nothing I could do would improve them. Excellent photography! Bummer about Sunday Series 52, but I'll still post something tomorrow.
Love the old eyeglasses featured in your 3 photos. Yes, I've been wearing glasses for most of my life and can't imagine not having them.
Happy to hear you are keeping the torch burning regarding SS 52. I liked the idea and actually, I will often post a series of 3 or more photos on the same theme -- just for fun and variety.
