january 3….

I have several family members living in the Midwest area who'll be bundling up tight in the coming days…..

this is something completely unfamiliar to me living here in Southern California…..

I've never lived in an area where the weather could kill you if you went outside for a walk…..

I've always wondered…..

when you don't go to work because of bad weather…..
do you get paid ?
or do you use up sick time or vacation days?

how in the world do you know how much your utilities will cost?

and when everyone and their brother is staying off the road and sticking close to home….

why is Star Bucks still open and who are those poor people braving the roadways?

a tough bunch of people who choose to live there that's for sure….

I'm a pansy…..

needing sunshine and warmth or I start to whine like a three year old….

the photos are beautiful of all the chilled wintery whiteness….

the bowls of steaming soups, board games, sports on the television and crafting….

all of these activities never take place in my home…..

I've always felt as if I'm missing out not having snow….

I suppose I could pretend it's cold outside but the birds and sunshine call me elsewhere….

I'll post photos of my trees that are heavy with citrus and ready for harvesting….

my blogging buddies share their wonderful cozy homes while winter temps keep them close to the hearth and I'll share my flowers and sunshine to remind them Spring will arrive and they'll be shedding the wool coats down the road….

keep warm and safe and enjoy a football game and bowl of chili for me…..

and I'll be deadheading flowers and pulling weeds for all the gardeners out there waiting on Spring...

happy friday friends….

enjoy your weekend…..I'll be painting the coop and ordering curtains…...

Stay home! Not likely. lol. I work in an hospital I have to be there. I really don't know many people who would be able to stay home. Unless you work in a school and they close for the day you go to work. It would take ALOT of snow to be able to call in. Not saying that some people don't call in, but most us make it in. If you do stay home you use vacation days. Some places are set up to take sick days though. Sometimes it is white knuckling it in. Scary stuff sometimes. I think ice is worse then snow though. I live in Wisconsin and the 1st days of next week will be well under 0 degrees F. Wind chill can bring the temps down to -50! I am really not looking forward to that! That is colder then we have been since the 90's. Lately 20 below is the coldest we have been (with windchills). Plus add in the dark and gloomy skies. I am getting cabin fever so bad. Tomorrow is suppose to be in the 20's and I really need to get out if even for a half hour or so. Hopefully longer. Life in Wisconsin and other midwestern--eastern states can be tough some times. But at least this weather isn't every year!! Last year was very mild. I am not complaining. You have to take the bad days to appriceate the good days.
I love your pictures! So nice and right. I can't imagine seeing that much fruit on a tree! Going out to pick an orange etc anytime you want one. In season of course.

today the high was 49 degrees and we all felt absolutely frozen. I grew up in Michigan, I am much happier with a chilly 49 every once in a while.
