it's been sizzling outside and when checking the coming forecast....
more of the same ahead...

my front lawn (if you could actually refer to it as anything alive anymore) crunches under my feet...

my little hens are so sweet and patient through the Summer heat, continuing to do their best in providing daily eggs...

the lemon tree is in full force with a bounty that would make anyone want to move to Southern California.....countless beautiful yellow lemons hanging from every branch...some deep inside making the picking process a long sleeved task, unless you want to have a forearm that looks like it's been attacked by a kitten with all it's might...

the tomato plants have turned to crunchy golden branches with yellow, orange and red ripe fruit ready for harvest...

soon the stems will be removed, the soil turned and the hens set out for their cleaning and fertilizing job...all in preparation of the Sweet Pea plantings...

I plan to have a bumper crop of Sweet Peas this Fall...my favorite flower....

my knitting continues to hum along with the heat outside...

the last of three burp clothes, a couple of hats, hours spent searching on Revelry for patterns and ideas....the "bookmarked" list longer than I thought possible and new uploaded patterns to enjoy and ponder...

we're wrapping up the last days of July....
the dog days of August ahead...
aren't those the best?
cold icy watermelon slices while stretched out on the sofa with a great afternoon movie?
baskets and project bags scattered across the floor while the dogs lay stretched out enjoying the air conditioning....

vacation time from work....saved for the last of summer, the crowds will be gone and the Labor Day flags are left hanging, school books replacing with cotton shorts and bare feet...

it's a beautiful long slow summer we're enjoying...
