every hour of the weekend was filled...
Saturday was spent enjoying the company of fellow campers from the SOTF group, lunch and a new yarn shop visited by those with a love of fiber
later Zoe came over while her parents were busy with friends in the evening and Sunday included a trip to the beach,  a bit of holiday shopping, grocery shopping...and....then...drum roll here....
THE CAPE is finished and off the needles!!

It's going to fit the toddler in Canada for a very long time...a rare event in rapid childhood where clothes seldom fit longer than six months max!!
It's designed to be a baby blanket cape...but as the child's legs get longer...the cape continues to look adorable well past toddler!!!...in the beginning?..it looks like E.T. in the movie when they dressed him up for Halloween

Zoe's lasted at least two years...I think she still wears it although I think the head part is getting a bit small and may not fully cover her ears?

The pattern is in a book called Knit 2 Together by Tracey Ullman and Mel Clark - a fun read too!!
super easy to knit...a great project for a new knitter!!!
No mistakes in the pattern and the book is throughly enjoyable with stories and patterns

So, my trip to the new yarn shop?...Make One in the city of La Verne

Quality fibers...three new patterns:  one shawl, two cowls....and loads of inspiration from my new books..thanks again Mom for the birthday money...love my books and Owl journel

the little owl book with adorable pages on the inside?
I'm going to make 2016 the year  I actually organize my patterns and project and keep a notebook
Pattern names, yarns used, needle sizes and if they was a success...or not

the yarn shop was a special treat during the weekend...
but the highlight?
The Box...

for a number of years now.....how many years Pam?...
The Box (it must always be the same box from the very beginning when this began) has been sent back and forth between Pam and I....
there are no rules...or dates....or expectations on when it will be sent...or what The Box will hold..

it's always a surprise when it arrives and we know that inside are specially selected surprises packed just for us...

the elves....the originals....are mine....created and gifted to me by Pam
to be treasured and not to packed away when the holiday season ends...
but to remain on the shelf....sitting as sweet as can be keeping my most treasure bear company...

travel plans need to be discussed....
Seattle has lost it's luster...too much of everything...people, noise, concrete
a quiet place, full of history, century old trees, brick pathways and a famous Hotel requiring a full year or more for reservations is in mind...
a plane ticket will be needed, as well as walking shoes and a map...
no bike riding on this adventure...
instead a carriage ride, vintage China cups and hand knit shawls....all part of the scene...
calendars and piggy banks with monthly deposits are in order...
and our fellow travelers...will be please - no helmets

as soon as The Cape was cast off...
a quick cowl was cast on...(I know, I said I was casting on the toy....)
not for me...
but to be added to the growing knits waiting to be mailed off for the holiday...

but tomorrow morning?...early before the sun starts to turn the sky pink over the roof of the chicken coop?

I'm casting on Newby Wrap...
Pattern by Amanda Rios

I can't wait until morning...good night all...wishing you a great week ahead
