snow day....
well, as close to snow day as we will ever get in our little town...

the City provided the frozen ice and the children brought the energy...
dressed in all sorts of winter wear by parents who likely dug deep in the closet or garage for proper clothes..
the afternoon weather was perfect...cool and growing colder as the afternoon hours arrived...
cold by our standards anyway.....low 60's???...
high 50's would be heavenly for a real winter day in southern California...
for us, this is cold weather....
I would expect many of these hats and gloves will be tucked back in drawers for another day...
another day... a month full of days in the low 60's is all we can ever hope for here...
high heating bills are never something we deal with...traffic yes, bad weather...never.

there were tiny snowmen made with half melted snow,
snow cones eaten with rainbow colors,
goldfish to be won and taken home in plastic sandwich bags to likely be flushed down the drain dead by Wednesday...parents secretly hoping their plastic balls didn't bounce in the cups...

food trucks, mud, and face paint waiting lines long enough to hear the entire conversations and family plans of the people waiting ahead of you...

but in the end...
happy little people went home with sticky hands, painted faces and a questionable healthy goldfish...

waiting for me at home???
another knitting project to begin .....

the afternoon was chilly, perfect for staying inside...
perfect for playing school wearing a new knitted hat, fluffy winter coat and boots...

all before the sun came back out and the winter wear came off and snow day melted to a memory...

A fun time and great memories. Amazingly, the goldfish is still alive and happy!!
